EOC Instruction

EOC is short for Ethernet Over Cable, It is a technology that USES the existing HFC network to transmit TV signals and data signals simultaneously on a coaxial cable.
The Ethernet data signal is modulated to a frequency band and mixed with a cable TV signal to be outputted to the coaxial line. Then the data signal is isolated from the terminal and reduced to an Ethernet signal.

High and low frequency EOC comparison.

Characteristics of low frequency EOC technology:

1. Able to use the splitter, and the working frequency is in the low frequency band. the network ADAPTS the ability better does not need to replace the high quality branch dispatcher and the cable. It has a good adaptability to network, no need to replace to the high quality branch distributor and cable.

2. Low frequency attenuation and wide coverage(The attenuation is less than 4dB/100m from -5 coaxial cable when the frequency reached 30MHz )

3 . The circuit is simple to transform. The low frequency signal can pass through the branch, and the amplifier also needs no source equipment.(Low cost)

4. Largely affected by mass noise.

5. High line making process.

Characteristics of high frequency EOC technology:

1. Less affected by mass noise.

2. Narrow coverage, high frequency is attenuated on coaxial cable, and the high frequency characteristic of splitter can not be guaranteed. The attenuation is more than 20dB/100m from -5 coaxial cable when the frequency reached 750MHz )

3. Lower requirements for line making process.

Scope of EOC application

Both low and high frequency EOC schemes have the disadvantage of affecting the transmission stability, and the corresponding technical solutions can be flexibly selected according to the characteristics of the network in the application.

The low-frequency EOC are more suitable for the less user area.

Coaxial cable networks in these areas have the following characteristics: 

1. The down-linked user is less, and the mass noise is less;

2. Coaxial cable lines are longer and an ONU covers a wide range;

3. The number of coaxial cable connectors are little,which leads to less poor contacts.

High frequency EOC are more suitable for users with dense areas.

Coaxial cable networks in these areas have the following characteristics: 

1. The down-linked user is more, and the mass noise is more ;

2. Coaxial cable lines are shorter, FTTB and FTTH are widely used ;

3. The number of coaxial cable connectors are more,which leads to more poor contacts 。

SEOC Equipment Description
SEOC bridge Devices

* SEOC bridge has a maximum of two inputs and two outputs and four radio interfaces. The outdoor/indoor structure design can be placed in the field or in the information box. The IP data signal and the CATV signal are mixed and output to a cable television distribution network, and a common cable is used to transmit broadcast television programs and IP data.

* Free choice of operating frequency band for equipment, frequency range 968~1228MHz.

* Single-channel with 128MHz bandwidth, and MAC layer rate can be up to 700Mbps.

* For a 32-channel terminal full of throughput, the average transmission delay is 2.5ms, and the delay jitter is less than 5ms.

* The maximum link loss is 75dB, and the system throughput in the link attenuation of 55dB can guarantee the highest throughput.

* Supports carrier-grade dynamic bandwidth allocation (DBA)

* The hardware transfers the data, the size of the packet is insensitive, and there is no difference in the packet rate.

The area covered by the original PON equipment can be deployed on the ONU and SEOCSEOC bridge equipment by directly pulling the optical fiber to the optical node.

If the local network uses low-frequency EOC for two-way coverage in the early stage, the SEOC  central high-frequency signal can be co-transmitted with the low-frequency EOC signal in a coaxial network without affecting the respective signals.
